Rebecca Adlington revealed this week that she suffered a miscarriage after becoming pregnant 12 weeks ago with her third child.



The Olympic athlete posted a photo from the hospital on Instagram on Saturday. She opened up about her pregnancy and miscarriage and revealed that she was recovering after an infection in her kidney, sepsis and fever.



The singer admitted that she is still adjusting to the news, the 33-year-old wrote 'I know we'll get through it'.



Rebecca is already a mother to two children. She shares her 18-month-old son Albie with husband Andy Parsons and seven-year-old daughter Summer with professional swimmer Harry Needs, who she divorced in 2016.

In a statement, she explained that she went to hospital on Tuesday for her 12-week-scan she recalled having emergency surgery after discovering she had miscarried the baby.

The patient was discharged from the hospital on Thursday and was then taken back to her home.



She wrote: 'On Tuesday me and Andy went to hospital for our 12 week scan, only to find out that we'd had an unplanned miscarriage that required emergency surgery.'



"I was able to leave the hospital on Thursday, but was readmitted on Friday. After a day of treating sepsis, kidney infections and a fever, I'm now slowly on the mend. It's a long way to go, but I'm in the right place.

Rebecca turned her attention to her husband and referred to him as "my rock" to express her gratitude for his help during the difficult process.



She continued: '@andrewparsons5 , you have been my rock this week. The same with my friends and family. While we've not been in a position to process everything, I know that with their help, we will.

Although the swimmer hasn't yet made public the news there were rumors that the swimmer was pregnant in July.



Andy and Rebecca were married in August in their wedding in August, with a Cheshire ceremony just five months after welcoming their son.
